Skin diseases

There are various types of skin diseases. Among them Psoriasis, Eczema, Epidermolysis Bullosa and Pemphigus are the most obstinate skin problems. Psoriasis is a condition that affects the skin and causes thick red marks that look like scales to form. The thick scaling is probably due to an increase in number of skin cells. Sometimes pus-filled blisters form. Most of the time, the skin on the elbows and knees are affected, but psoriasis occurs anywhere on the body, including scalp, fingernails and mouth and even the skin over joints.

Cause of Psoriasis : In a normally functioning immune system, white blood cells produce antibodies to foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses. These white blood cells also produce chemicals that aid in healing and fighting infective agents. In psoriasis, however, some white blood cells cause the body to fight normal tissue in the skin and, sometimes joints. These white blood cells also produce an abnormally large amount of "healing" chemicals that actually causes more inflammation in skin and joints.

Genetic Causes of Psoriasis : Researchers have now found 4 key genes  involved with psoriasis. These genes regulate the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system. The HLA molecules are designed to present foreign substances to immune system so they can be destroyed, but this process is malfunctioning in psoriasis.

Weather Triggers of Psoriasis : Weather is a strong factor in psoriasis. Cold, dry weather commonly starts a psoriasis flare-up, and hot, damp and sunny weather make psoriasis symptoms better.

Stress Triggers of Psoriasis : Stress, unexpressed anger and emotional disorders like depression and anxiety are strongly associated with psoriasis flare-ups.

Symptoms of Psoriasis

People with psoriasis suffer discomfort, including pain and itching, restricted motion in their joints and emotional distress.

In its most typical form, psoriasis results in patches of thick, red skin covered with silvery scales. These patches, which are sometimes referred to as plaques, usually itch and may burn. The skin at the joints may crack. Psoriasis most often occurs on elbows, knees, scalp, lower back, face, palms and soles of feet but it can affect any skin site. The disease may also affect the fingernails, toenails, and soft tissues inside mouth and genitalia. About 15% of people with psoriasis have joint inflammation that produces arthritis symptoms. This condition is called psoriatic arthritis.

Eczema (Dermatitis) : Eczema is a general term encompassing various inflamed skin conditions. One of the most common forms of eczema is atopic dermatitis. The condition appears to be an abnormal response of the body's immune system. In people with eczema, the inflammatory response to irritating substances overacts, causing itching and scratching. Eczema is not contagious and like many diseases, currently cannot be cured. For most patients the condition may be managed well with treatment and avoidance of triggers.

Psoriasis, Eczema and other Skin Diseases : Immunity plays an important role in psoriasis, eczema and other skin diseases. Noni contains all the vitamins and all necessary minerals and a wide variety of beneficial phytochemicals, some of which are not found in any other known plants. These phytochemicals work synergistically to enhance or modify body immunity power. When immune system is functioning well, then we can prevent many diseases including obstinate skin diseases also.

The natural integrity of Noni is only part of the reason for its effectiveness. There are two additional reasons contributing to noni's effectiveness for a broad range of conditions

Unique Combination of Substances

For a fruit, which is the most digestively efficient of all foods, Noni has an impressive combination of ingredients. It has a rich complement of vitamins and minerals; including A, B vitamins (including the rare B-12), C, E, Iron, calcium, sodium, potassium, zinc and several trace minerals.

Terpenes, fungicides, adaptogens, glycosides, polysaccharides and other unique ingredients that even in small amounts can have significant physiological effects are found in Noni. NONI stimulates the immune system, regulates proper cell function, increases ability of cells to absorb and utilize nutrients, inhibits tumor growth and regenerates damaged cells.

Probably the most unique ingredient is an alkaloid called xeronine. Xeronine has several important functions including regulating many proteins in body, activating inactive enzymes and improving cellular function. Noni also contains a substance called proxeronine, which can be stored in liver according to Dr. Ralph Heinecke. Proxeronine, in turn, can be used to make xeronine, as needed.

The many known, and even a few of the unknown substances, come together in a way that support the needs of many of our internal systems, concurrently. As the word synergy implies, these substances work far better in combination than they do separately. Many of the ingredients in Noni are found in varying amounts in other foods or herbs. There seems to be no known food or herb with either the rich list of substances or the high amounts of key substances all put together in one super food. Noni aids the body's natural healing abilities.

As the age increases, one notices the skin losing its glow and becoming dry and rough. This is due to decrease in moisture content of stratum corneum or to a decrease in vertical height of epidermal cells.

Noni acts like humectants. Noni helps in retaining moisture content of cells and thus helps in keeping skin smooth and wrinkle free and prevents from becoming dry and rough due to the aging  process.
