Sinusitis
The air chambers in the bone behind your cheeks, eyebrows and jaw are called sinuses. They make mucus, a fluid that cleans bacteria and other particles out of the air we breathe. Tiny hairs called cilia sweep mucus out of our sinuses, so it can drain out through our nose.
What is sinusitis ?
Sinusitis is the name for a condition in which the lining of our sinuses becomes inflamed. Anything that causes swelling in our Sinuses or keeps the cilia from moving mucus causes sinusitis. This occurs because of changes in temperature or air pressure. Using decongestant nasal sprays too much, smoking and swimming or diving can also increase our risk of getting Sinusitis. Some people have growths called polyps (say: “pawl-ips”) that block their sinus passages.
When sinusitis is caused by a bacterial or viral infection, was get a sinus infection. Sinus infections sometimes occur after were had a cold. The cold virus attacks the lining of our sinuses, causing them to swell and become narrow. Our body responds to the virus by producing more mucus, but it gets blocked in our swollen sinuses. This built-up mucus makes a good place for bacteria to grow. The bacteria cause a sinus infection.
What are the signs of acute Sinusitis ?
A cold that starts to get better and then gets worse may be a sign of acute sinusitis. Pain or pressure in some areas of face (forehead, cheeks or between the eyes) is often a sign of blocked sinus drainage and can be a sign of acute sinusitis. Pain in our forehead that starts when we lean forward can also be a sign. Other symptoms include a stuffy nose, fever and an ache in our upper teeth. There are a number of conditions that cause tissues inside the nose to swell and normal mucus to thicken, preventing proper sinus drainage and leading to sinusitis.
- Allergies
- Irritants like air pollution or chemicals
- Dental problems (such as having a tooth removed or a root infection)
- Smoking
Other risks for developing sinusitis include
- Having asthma
- Overusing nasal decongestants (rather than continuing to relieve congestion, the problem gets worse when these are used too often or for too long)
- Having a deviated nasal septum, nasal bone spur or polyp
- Having a foreign body in our nose
- Frequent swimming or diving
- Dental work
- Pregnancy
- ux disease Changes in altitude (flying)
- Air pollution and smoke
- Gastroesophageal refl
(GERD)
Role of Noni
The immune power palys a greater role in every chronic diseases. The recurrent attack of sinusitis has the root level cause of weak immune power. If the person have a strong immune power then it protects the body from recurrent affection of any disease.NONI works as a Healthy Immune System Promoter. Current studies revealed that Noni promotes a healthy immune system by either enhancing an already functioning system or by stimulating a sluggish one. Noni acts like an immune booster. Hence by activating the immune system it ceases the frequent attack of sinusitis. It also helps in modifying sensitivity of the person to particular allergens, so that he does not get repeated attack of sinusitis though exposed regularly.
Noni contains all the vitamins like vit A, vit C, vit E, vit B complex, all trace minerals, 17 amino acids including all essential amino acids, besides that 150 and above micro nutrients. Our bodies are bombarded daily by damaging effects of free radicals created through normal metabolic functions. In fact, scientists report that the DNA of each of our cells is attacked by free radicals over 10,000 times / day. Add to this with the polluted environment of today's world, scope of the problem increases. Uninterrupted, free radicals can wreak havoc with DNA, enzymes and cells. They make it impossible for the cells to function properly. Many chronic conditions including chronic sinusitis - result from accumulated damage caused by free radicals. Antioxidants can fight free radicals in three ways. (I)They prevent a free radical from forming (II)They interrupt an oxidizing chain reaction to lessen the effects of free radicals. (III)Antioxidants reduce the free radical's impact. Fortunately antioxidants like Noni have proven as an effective weapon against them.
Selenium is essential to production of glutathione peroxidase, important in detoxifying the body of environmental toxins. Selenium reduces inflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes and free radicals. Noni contains selenium and other trace minerals with lots of essential phytochemicals. Noni helps a lot in acute inflammatory condition of sinusitis.
Melatonin, a hormone produced by pineal gland, has immunity-enhancing benefits in addition to its well-known role as a sleep aid. Melatonin enhances production of key immune system components, like NK cells, IL-2, IL-4, IL-10 and gamma interferon. Melatonin specifically decreases viral load and prevents death in mice infected with certain viruses. Noni stimulates the pineal gland to secret more melatonin in blood. Hence it maintains the immunity system strong and active against many diseases.
Noni contains one ingredient, the Scopoletin which has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal; anti-inflammatory analgesic and histamine-inhibiting properties. It helps a lot in acute sinusitis condition.
