Obesity
Obesity is a complex disease in having too much body fat which increases a person’s risk for developing other health problems. Obesity generally is measured by body mass index (BMI), a calculation that shows weight in relation to height.
As BMI increases, risk of some diseases increases. A BMI of 30 or above is obese in adults, which means a person is at a higher risk for certain diseases, including heart disease, high blood pressure and coronary artery disease (CAD). BMI is only one of many factors used to predict risk of developing a disease.
The location of body fat is important. If fat accumulate mostly around the abdomen (central obesity, sometimes called apple-shaped), a person is at greater risk for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and CAD than people who are lean or people who have fat around hips (peripheral obesity, sometimes called pear-shaped).
Causes
Genetic Factors : There is a close connection between obesity in parents and the obesity in their children. 70% of children with obese parents are also obese. When only one of the parents is obese, 40% of the children are obese, and when neither of the parents is obese, only 10% are obese Genetically, obese people store more energy as fat than do normal people. Obese people, genetically, have a lower basal metabolism. In developed countries, obesity occurs frequently among the lower classes, whereas in underdeveloped countries, obesity occurs more frequently among upper classes.
The lowest body fat (%) is genetically set, but the maximum (%) is heavily affected by the person’s environmental factors. Dissatisfaction and stress cause obesity. Obesity can be caused by endocrine disorders, hypothalamus dysfunction, hypophysis tumors and pineal gland tumors. Most of the time, reason for obesity is overeating. High calorie intake and low energy consumption result in obesity. Excessive eating as a result of stress increases the amount of fat and causes obesity. Eating too much after not eating for a while, and other irregular eating habits, cause obesity.
Among people who consume excess alcohol, there are many obese people. Excess calories from alcohol cause obesity.
As life becomes more convenient and mechanical most people do not like to walk or use stairs and opt for cars and elevators, further compounding a chronic lack of exercise that many people experience.
The body stores more energy when energy is not exerted. The lack of exercise causes the body to naturally deposit fat throughout the body.
Compared to people who do manual labor, people with office jobs have a greater chance of becoming obese, despite more working hours, because less energy is exerted. Overweight and obesity are a result of energy imbalance over a long period of time. The cause of energy imbalance for each individual may be due to a combination of several factors. Individual behaviors, environmental factors, and genetics all contribute to complexity of obesity epidemic..

Role of Noni in obese patient
Levels of fat-soluble antioxidants, vitamin E and carotenoids were significantly lower in patients with severe obesity as compared to normal weight subjects, whereas no differences in the concentrations of the B vitamins, folic acid and B12. Epidemiologic studies demonstrated an association between increased intake of antioxidant vitamins like vitamin E, carotenoids and vitamin C and reduced morbidity and mortality from coronary artery disease. This association is explained on basis of LDL oxidative modification process, which involves initiation of atherogenesis and its protection by oxidation of the LDL lipids. Extensive studies showed an inverse association between CAD (coronary artery diseases) events and vitamin E and carotenoids intake. The ability of b-carotene to protect LDL against oxidation both in healthy subjects and in diabetic patients, with an emphasis on b-carotene derived from natural sources has been demonstrated.
Noni is rich in all vitamins - vit A, vita C, vita B complex, and with beta carotenoids. Noni contains all the trace minerals and all essential amino acids. All this unique combination is found only in NONI. It acts like a powerful antioxidant. If any obese patient takes Noni, then it helps to prevent the formation of atherosclerotic plaques as it protects LDL lipids against oxidation. Noni juice is purely natural. Flavonoids are a vast group of polyphenolic substances with high antioxidant properties. Noni is rich with Flavonoids.
A significant reduction in plasma antioxidants in obese patients suggests an unrecognized CAD (coronary artery diseases) risk factor in these patients. Only a limited number of studies have dealt with antioxidants and obesity. Supplementation of Noni to the obese patient prevents them from attack of coronary artery diseases (CAD).
Lower serum levels of vitamin E were demonstrated in subjects with abdominal obesity. Vitamin E and b-carotene were significantly lower in plasma of obese boys and LDL of obese girls. Supplementation with Noni to obese children fulfills the demand of vit E, and B-carotene in their body. Another mechanism that potentially relates obesity to low antioxidants and enhanced oxidation involves hyperinsulinemia. Physio-logically, severe obesity is characterized by hyperinsulinemia. Noni supplementation maintains the antioxidant level in the blood and thus prevents from arising of conditions of hyperinsulinemia.
Low plasma antioxidants are linked to oxidative modification of LDL, a process necessary for generation of atherosclerotic plaque. Noni prevents oxidative modification of LDL cholesterol by its high antioxidant properties. There is an inverse relationship between plasma antioxidant vitamin carotenoids and vitamin E and cardiovascular diseases. Hence Noni prevents possibility of many cardiac diseases in case of obese patients by its high power antioxidant properties. Indeed, studies showed enhanced oxidative stress and low concentrations of plasma antioxidants in patients with obesity.
As apparent from preceeding sections of this review, obesity is a major risk factor for the development of type 2 diabetes. Therefore, supplements that induce weight loss are useful for the prevention and/or treatment of diabetes. One such supplement is chromium, available as chromium picolinate. The exact mechanism of action of chromium is not completely understood, but it is shown that this trace element inhibits insulin secretion in isolated pancreatic islets. It should be recalled that hyperinsulinemia is a characteristic feature of obesity and it is hypothesized that high plasma insulin levels may be responsible for excessive body weight gain. It is also proposed that chromium acts as an insulin sensitizer in type 2 diabetes. It is interesting to note that chromium concentration in the body appears to decline with age. Along with age-associated deficiency in antioxidant defense systems, the age-dependent reduction in chromium levels plays a role in high incidence of type 2 diabetes in elderly individuals. Noni contains this trace mineral chromium. Noni daily helps users from not only their obesity but also from future diabetes situation.

Most of the time Obesity is
Most of the time Obesity is the main cause of Diabetes. Specially in case of type 2 diabetes, diabetes should keep control on their weight and for that they need to follow the healthy diet plan and exercise. Which will help them to decrease the weight and control on blood sugar level in the body. There are number of causes of Obesity and today number of treatments are also available to cure the problem of Obesity.
